ThermiVa Vaginal Rejuvenation Q & A
What does the ThermiVa procedure accomplish?
The ThermiVa procedure works by tightening the tissues of the vagina and restoring the integrity of the vaginal walls. Aging and repeated vaginal births can stretch the tissues of the vagina, causing them to weaken and become lax. The ThermiVa laser uses a small wand that is inserted into the vagina to send energy waves into the tissues.
By lasering the walls of the vagina, it produces more collagen and elastin fibers. That improves the integrity and tone of the tissues, causing them to tighten. It also increases the amount of lubrication being produced preventing vaginal dryness that can lead to discomfort during intercourse.
How can I prevent vaginal dryness?
Vaginal dryness naturally occurs once you enter menopause. For some women, it may not pose a problem, while others may experience extreme discomfort. To improve the integrity of the skin, you can include zinc, silica, Vitamin E, and Vitamin C in your diet, along with Omega 3 fatty acids.
Improving your diet alone won't prevent vaginal dryness. If you do experience severe dryness, it's important to use a lubricant during any sexual activity to prevent discomfort. If the condition persists and becomes more intense, talk to your provider about the ThermiVa procedure and find out if it may be an option that would relieve your symptoms.
How long will the results of a ThermiVa treatment last?
The ThermiVa treatment program consists of three separate sessions spaced out over a three month period. The results aren't permanent, but they can last for up to a year.
Depending on the severity of your condition, you may see marked improvement after the first one or two treatments. A few weeks after the third treatment has been received, you will begin to see the final results.
By scheduling the next set of three treatments before the results start fading, you can maintain the firmness received from the first treatment without experiencing any symptoms in between.
